Feasibility Study for Proposed Municipal Complex

By now hopefully many of you have heard about the township commissioning an architect to perform a feasibility study for a new township complex to be constructed somewhere in the township. The feasibility study is in its final stage of development which includes public input.

The idea of a new municipal complex is not new to the Supervisors. Over the past decade several supervisor boards recognized the need for a new building but for various reasons decided to hold off. Having a feasibility study completed that provides an analysis of what is needed now and in the future, helps tremendously with the planning process. The Board can visually see what the complex could look like and how operations and administration will function. The Board is also provided cost estimates for this endeavor so that they can make informed decisions.

This feasibility study looked at condition, location and cost of renovations to its current facilities as well as what a new complex would look like and its cost and location. Direction was also provided by staff to look at how the new complex would complement efficiency of operations and reduce our administrative costs vs what is currently in place in the township.

As many of you know the township operations are scattered throughout the township at different locations. The study focused on sizing the new complex to accommodate all township services under one roof instead of having multiple locations. Having all services in one location reduces the cost of operations and administration as well as provides our customers a place to complete all township business.

A great indication that a new municipal complex is needed was witnessed recently, where residents who wished to attend a meeting had to wait outside in the rain and wind while the supervisors held an Executive Session.

The Board of Supervisors saw for the first time the most recent and inclusive renderings of what the complex could look like and where it could possibly be constructed at a meeting held on 03/03/22. Take the opportunity to review and  comment on the study.
